a new fortress

A fortress stood so very tall,

Hardened, solid kept away from the outside world.

A day of reckoning came along,

My fortress fell; someone destroyed what was once so strong

Vulnerable, weakened from battles past

Too much, too fast, no time to react.

When the walls came crumbling down on me

Who knew the fortress would be replaced so easily

A sturdy strong tree trunk rooted itself deep

Arms like branches protect during sleep

A new castle has built its way around me

Stronger than the last, no enemies can get in
